Greenwich UCU AGM

Wednesday 6th May 2025, 2.30-4pm – online. Teams link in your inboxes or email us (the branch, or email Emma Kennedy) to get the link.

The AGM is slightly longer as we are in the process of confirming a guest speaker on what is happening across the HE sector at the moment. We will keep you updated on this.

At this meeting we will elect the branch Co-ordinating Committee. We welcome anyone to nominate for any of the positions (Co-chair x 2, Secretary, Treasurer (newly vacant), Membership Secretary, Equalities Officer, H&S Officers x2, Communications Officer, Sustainability Officer (currently vacant), Learning Officer (currently vacant). There is some facility time attached to each position (AWP hours) so please do consider standing for a position.

If you would like to stand for a position or discuss what the positions involve, just email our Secretary – Alex Stroleny (a.e.stroleny@greenwich.ac.uk)

We also will provide updates on the local situation and campaigns, including Collective Bargaining over increasing  London Weighting for academics, workloads, and other issues.

We also have to re- present our  Branch subscription motion for raising funds for our local Fighting Fund since while this was passed by a branch meeting recently, we have now been informed by national UCU that this motion can only be passed at an AGM, not an ordinary branch meeting.  This is a really important motion as it will enable us to locally fund strikers in any future industrial campaign by topping up the national strike pay, as well as fund the activities of the branch. If we do not have enough people there, we cannot pass this motion, so please do try to attend if you can.

The branch continues to negotiate with the university on many issues, including workloads, health and safety, and other key aspects of our working conditions.

If you would like to get involved, please email uogucu@gmail.com  – we are always looking for colleagues to become involved. You are the union!
