Can I donate to the branch?

How can I support you during industrial action?
Students: you can email the vice-chancellor to express your support for industrial action – UCU has produced a webpage that will generate a full email (search for Greenwich) or you can use vice-chancellor@greenwich.ac.uk.
Visit us on the picket line! Picket line details are announced via our branch Twitter account and you can find the latest strike dates (February and March 2023) here. We always welcome students to visit us on picket lines: you won’t be official picketers so there is nothing stopping you visiting for a chat (sometimes we have entertainment, dogs and/or sweet treats too. Our main picket line is on the Greenwich campus at the West Gate but you can check the Twitter account for the latest updates.
Can students join UCU?
This depends upon what type of student you are. Postgraduate students who do not teach aspiring to an academic career or training to teach in post-16 education (including a PGCE in Further Education) are eligible for free Student Membership. This does not entitle you to vote in union elections or ballots, and the union cannot represent you in actions related to your studies.
Postgraduate students who teach can join as full members (i.e. with voting and representation rights), and may be eligible for a year’s free membership under UCU’s Future of the Profession Scheme.
Undergraduate students cannot join UCU, but may wish to express an interest in becoming linked to the Greenwich branch via a student solidarity group: email the branch to find out more.
